Trying to get your head around the planet’s current climate crisis can be overwhelming to say the least. We’ve chosen to focus on two broad global issues which everyone should be aware of:

Deforestation

Marine Conservation

Our founders are passionate about these two critical subjects, Nick focussing on tropical deforestation in Indonesia with the company Pollinium, whilst Isaac champions MPAs with various Oceanic institutions.

Deforestation & Protecting Orangutans

Since 2020 we have been using our Soundcloud platform to raise money for the Borneo Orangutan Sanctuary (BOS). We request record labels make a donation each time they submit a track to premiere on Gouranga .

All three species of orangutan are critically endangered.
A recent study estimated that over 100,000 orangutans have been killed in just the past 17 years as their forest home is logged and burned primarily for the production of palm oil.

There are three species of Orangutan:

Bornean

 Sumatran

Tapanuli

Today, Bornean, Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutans are threatened by extinction due to habitat loss and hunting.

It is estimated that the Bornean orangutan population has decreased by more than 80% within the last three generations.

Unfortunately, as soon as it was re-discovered in 2017, the Tapanuli orangutan was classified as the most endangered great ape species.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies all three species of orangutan as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. All three species are also listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Orangutans are legally protected by national and international law, however laws and regulations alone are clearly insufficient to actively protect this charismatic species. Orangutan conservation requires comprehensive and integrated efforts by all stakeholders, both in the field and in the political arena, to ensure its success.

Working with BOS Foundation

We know the Borneo Oranguatan Sanctuary from our own conservation adventures in Borneo. They do a fantastic job and are a high impact non-profit, one we can all be proud to support. This video explains what they do.
